My trip begins today! Rather, it will once I actually get on the plane. I had not even left the house when my phone indicated a message from my airline. Yep…one hour delay to start an already late departure. The phrase from Hunger Games immediately came to mind…“May the odds be ever in your favor.“ And I laughed! Then I called the car rental company as I thought they closed at midnight and my flight isn’t arriving until 12:18 AM. Good news! They don’t close at midnight! And the shuttles run 24/7, so here’s hoping all works out.
On another note, those who followed along last year may recall I had a surprise prayer partner that was an amazing and meaningful part of my experience and journey (read about some of this in previous posts). Well, that dear lady showed up this morning with a bag for my new journey, a card (and a few treats like one of my favorites pictured above) for each of my days. Just knowing she took the time to do this is a gift in itself. But once I cleared the airport check-in chaos and found a seat, I opened the first card.
Y’ALL!!! If you read the first post about this trip, you know musical earworms have been part of my life the last couple of weeks as I made preparations. So the first thing I see in the card is “Today’s Song” and find out she has chosen a song for each day. I CAN’T WAIT!!! Today’s song is one I remember from way back, John Denver’s “Leavin’ on a jet plane.” I quickly took out my earbuds and listened to that oldie but goodie, which has led to a fun playlist.
She also offered a verse to guide the first leg of this journey.
“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.” Psalm 91:11
What a blessing to know prayers have been lifted. What peace it brings to be reminded God is all around, even as I get my third notification of a gate change. So I won’t hold my breath for the odds to be ever in my favor. Instead, I’ll listen to the playlist as I wait to board the jet plane and begin the adventure.
Thanks for joining me on the journey, maybe with a song in your heart. First stop, Oklahoma City airport…eventually.
Connie & I wish you safe travels
& will be praying for you all through your journey 🙏🏻
Crossing my fingers for you, Jenny! When I’m traveling these days, the phrase “pack your patience” often comes up. Nothing is quite predictable anymore. May you be blessed with patience on your trip!
