Thank you for this, Jenny. Early mornings are moments of silence for me. I wake up and thank the Lord right away. Sometimes, I feel awkward that I’m not rattling off prayers. Your post reminds me to be ok with sharing silence with God-- that I don’t need to do the talking but more listening.

I love that you turned the radio off for 6 days. Silence is so counter-cultural, I forget it is an option sometimes.....

I didn't even notice it at first. It had been off for a full day before I realized it. Then it became a great awareness and then a bit of a challenge. But I love what I found and gave space for as a result. I too quickly went back to normal though. Trying to turn it off more often.

Jenny, you do what writers (and friends!) I love do...you make me laugh, you provoke me to think deeper, and you give me a glimpse of God's kingdom in the shared connections you create with your words and images. Thanks for sharing this gift of yours.

Thank you for sharing this! I’m spending some time today in NJ with my son who has not been well. Using this quiet time while he sleeos - with really nothing I need to do- to reflect on your writings and connect with God.

I love this Jenny!l - the straight roads, no radio, bicycles hanging in trees, etc. I’m so thankful for you and the stance you took to make this journey happen. As you said, Jesus made time to get away- what a model for us! Have you thought of writing a book? I’m sure it would be a best seller!! Also if you haven’t read The Yellow Envelope, it’s a great one. It’s a true story about a couple who sell everything and travel with $1,000 to spend how they see fit. Hope to see you soon… praying for you as you figure out your next “step!” ❤️
